At least 3 people were killed while the number of those injured reached over 40, after the water tank explode in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.
According to Police Director Superintendent Fitz Macariola, the water tank in Barangay Muzon collapsed at around 3:30 in the morning where it hit the ground causing damage of life and property in the village.
The tank was 13 meters in height, 14 meters in diameter, and had the capacity to carry 2,000 cubic meters of waters.
Authorities stated that a one-year-old child and a 50-year old police volunteer died from drowning, while a 22-year-old woman died from debris. They were identified as Jaina Espina (one-year-old), Jimmy Garcia (50-year-old), and Elaine Chamzon (22-year-old).
The general manager of San Jose Del Monte water district, Engineer Loreto Limcolioc said that they are still clueless on what caused the explosion. He then, added that the 7-year structure was regulartly maintained.
Meanwhile, the city disaster risk management office asked residents and motorists not to use their cellphones and avoid smoking in the area as the explosion affected a gasoline station.
The injured are now also being treated in different hospitals in Bulacan and in Metro Manila. Calsses in all levels in the barangay were suspended for the meantime while roads from Barangay Muzon heading to Marilao, Bulacan were closed due to the incident.
