Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido’s reassignment to Iloilo has been cancelled, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The order came from PNP headquarters in Camp Crame and was received by Chief Supt. Cesar Hawthorne Binag, the Western Visayas police director who disclosed the cancellation of Espenido’s reassignment to Iloilo.
According to Presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella that was the decision reached by the leadership of the PNP following the established policies and procedures in the transfer, reassignment and designation of their personnel.
Earlier, President Rodrigo Duterte said he would assign Espenido to Iloilo after praising him for his work in the intensified campaign against illegal drugs.
Espenido served as police chief of Albuera, Leyte and Ozamiz City, led by mayors who ended up dead amid the government’s war on drugs.
