PNP chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa wittily told convicted armed robber, drug dealer and recording star Herbert Colangco to “sing” for him during a visit to the National Bilibid Prison (NBP) maximum security compound on Wednesday, July 20 during the PNP-Special Action Force (SAF) turnover as temporary security force in the National Bilibid Prison (NBP).
Colangco, who had made music videos from the bastions of the NBP then “sang” to Dela Rosa that Peter Co is still the top druglord operating inside the prison compound.
Colangco, Co and another high-profile inmate, Jaybee Sebastian were among those who were transported by bus to temporary detention cells while the SAF, PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) had a clearing operation of Building 14 at the Maximum Security Prison.
Contraband items such as signal boosters which counter signal jammers, almost half a million pesos in cash, cigarettes, television sets and other illegal items were recovered.
The 320 members of the PNP SAF will take over NBP for a few months while the 200 NBP employees undergo “reeducation and retraining.”
Dela Rosa urged the SAF troop at the turnover ceremony saying, “Huwag kayong magpacorrupt. Huwag na huwag kayong magpapaloko ha. Isang report lang na isa sa inyo ay tumanggap ng bribe, kahit piso o kahit isang balot ng candy na tatanggapin niyo, that will destroy everything.”
Dela Rosa also said, “Suot ko itong uniporme niyo, because I know you are with me in this fight against drugs, criminality and corruption.”
He also added, “Please do not let me down. Do not let the President down. Do not let the Filipino people down. Kayo na po ang pag-asa, kaya ayusin niyo po ang trabaho niyo.”
