President Rodrigo Duterte has signed Executive Order (EO) No. 43 creating Presidential Anti Corruption Commission. It is signed to assist the President in investigating and hearing administrative cases of graft and corruption.

According to the EO No. 43, “There is a need to create a separate commission under the Office of the President solely dedicated to providing assistance to the President in the investigation and hearing of administrative cases and complaints, and in the conduct of lifestyle checks and/or fact-finding inquiries concerning presidential appointees and other public officers allegedly involved in graft and corrupt practices,”

The commission will be composed of a chairman, and four commissioners. Most of the commissioners should also be a member of the Philippine Bar, and practitioners for at least five years.

Duterte created the executive order due to the amid allegations of corruption and selective justice against Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales and officials of the anti-graft agency.
