Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Assistant Secretary Lorraine Badoy has been appointed Undersecretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), confirmed by Social Welfare Assistant Secretary Emmanuel Leyco.

“Assistant Secretary Badoy has informed me as OIC-Secretary at DSWD of this development earlier and is now in the process of completing and turning over her responsibilities which is expected to last until the end of the month,” Leyco said in a text message.

“I thank Asec Badoy for her contributions to DSWD and I am confident that she will be able to bring her effectiveness as a communicator to her new assignment as Usec at PCOO,” he added.

However, Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said there was no official appointment yet.

“Let’s wait for the appointing authority’s word.” Andanar said.

Last February, Badoy was picked as assistant secretary of DSWD who was tasked to implement the medical assistance to drug dependents who seek rehabilitation.

Meanwhile, Badoy is the daughter of former Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Anacleto Badoy, who led the anti-graft court’s third division that heard the plunder case of former President and now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada.
