President Rodrigo Duterte defended the policemen behind the raid that was conducted inside the home of Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr. that led to his death and 15 others.

Houses of alleged illegal drug personalities in Ozamiz City in Misamis Occidental were raided last Sunday, July 30, by members of the Philippine National Police –Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.

Duterte told reporters in an interview in Quezon City after attending the 113th founding anniversary of the BIR (Bureau of Internal Revenue. “The police and the military should make sure that their enemies are dead. Otherwise, if the other guy can still pull the trigger, you will end up with a dead police or a dead military soldier.”

The Parojinogs were included in the politicians that the Chief Executive had tagged before for involvement in illegal drugs.

Duterte said that the Parojinogs controlled Ozamis City like a “feudal state.”

“They were running the city as if it was a feudal state of the Family. Kaya sinabiko, (So I said)  ‘Huwag ninyong Gawain ‘yan.’ (Don’t do that)  Eh ‘pag hindi ninyo sinunod – sasabihin, ‘Bakit namatay?” (If they did not follow- they will say “Why did he die?”)  Duterte stated.

Duterte fearlessly said that he would answer for the bloody operation.

“I will answer for it. I ordered it,” Duterte added.

He even recalled, during his speech hoe he called summoned local chief Executives in the Palace as part of his war on drugs steps.

“Well, I will make it public. One time, I called for all of them. Sa kanila…Hindi ko kayo niyaya. (To them.. I did not invite you) I barred the Media. Three bitches. Sinabi ko talaga sa kanila, (I told them), ”Do not do it. Do not do it because my order is to destroy the organizations,” Duterte said.

He also added that his order to the military and police was to terminate organizations, both user, pushers and suppliers, all involved in the illegal drug industry.

The raids in Ozamiz City was earlier clarified by the Palace as part of the government’s tight campaign for war on drugs.

Duterte also justified that the time the search warrant was served on the Parojinog family members, amid questioning on the time of the execution, late in the evening. Duterte said while warrants should be executed during the day by law enforcers, it could still be served anytime. Noting that the trades in the drug industry is commonly done at night.
