Presidential Security Group (PSG) member, Harim Gonzaga was found dead inside his quarters located at the Malacañang Park.
According to PSG Chief Brigadier General Louie Dagoy, the dead body of Major Gonzaga was discovered by his wife, Shiela, who is also a member of Presidential Escorts around 8:50 a.m. Gonzaga has a gunshot wound to his chest and immediately directed the Philippine National Police (PNP) to dispatch a team of Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) at the scene of incident.
Dagoy, also said that a 45 caliber pistol owned by Gonzaga was found near his body.
He then refused to speculate on the cause of the death, pending the results of the investigation. The initial investigation showed that there was no sign of foul play in the scene of the crime.
“Mahirap sabihin na suicide (It is difficult to say that it was suicide) when we don’t have the data to conclude. It could also be an accident but we leave it up to SOCO. Dagoy said.
Dagoy also asked Gonzaga’s wife if they have any issue.
“I asked (Gonzaga’z wife), Is there a problem? She said, ‘None sir, He’s just saying that he has bunch of workloads.’ That’s normal because you’re a PSG member. i don’t think it’s a reason for him to you know, take his life. Para lang sa trabaho (Just because of work). I really do no know. Dagoy said.
PSG Gonzaga was married and father of two. His body was now brought to Archangel Funeral Homes in Manila.
Meanwhile, the PSG expressed grief and condolences to the family and friends of Gonzaga. Dagoy also assured that assistance would be extended to the family.
